Spray-painting MDF: DIY/commercial

Hello,

Am contemplating getting bathroom cabinets made out of MDF. Finish is important.

I have read about sealing and priming MDF, and was wondering about spray-paint for the final coat (gloss white probably).

What is the best sort of paint for a bathroom?

Is spray-painting a reasonable diy aspiration? (no pun intended)

Is commercial spray-painting likely to be practical/affordable?

TIA

I've not done any, but did look into it a few months ago, I bookmarked a few videos on youtube which show quite meticulous preparation (sanding, priming, sanding, painting, sanding, painting, sanding ...)

using acid catalysed enamel paints e.g.

DIY spraying is quite practical. Personally I wouldn't consider mdf for a bathroom though, it's too water vulnerable. PVC would make more sense, and takes painted well if required.

Make sure the units are made from moisture resistant mdf (MRMDF). This has more resin and a finer surface to the cut edges as well as being MR

- better for a bathroom application. A quality board such as Medite is not a lot extra cost and so much better surface. Use a high build primer for the edges or make a sloppy mix of poly filler, apply to all the exposed edges and rub down with fine glass paper over a block of wood when fully dry, re-coating if needed and then spray paint.

You write of getting them made. Most places that turn mdf into gold (aka custom furniture makers) will have a spray booth and should be able to give you a with and without price.

Wrap over well primed and flattened dust free surface, will even stretch into mouldings
