Source of cheap shelving/racking wanted...

I'm looking for a source of cheap shelving or racking similar to that used to hold stock in shops, basically there are vertical steel fittings screwed to the wall with holes at regular intervals to take the shelf brackets and then the shelves sit on these. Has the benefit of being able to adjust the height and distance between shelves to suit needs.

Spur shelving or its cheaper Screwfix imitation (93573 or similar) springs to mind

I don't know if it counts as cheap, but try Broder from Ikea:

(possibly by buying the individual brackets etc rather than the kits)

Otherwise industrial shelving suppliers? Or find a shop nearby that's closing down? Often they sell off their display racking cheap (eg C&A and Woolworths were during their respective closing down sales).

I've always found these people good for shelving:

Auctions of the assets of bankrupt businesses are always a good source of cheap things like that, particularly if they are incidental to the main business and most bidders are likely to be there for the major assets.

As with any auction, make sure you go there knowing exactly how much you want to spend on the item(s) you want and stick strictly to that. Don't get carried away by the bidding.

Spur seems hard to come by. The Screwfix stuff seems just as good - as long as that's the heavy duty steel stuff. We've bought lots of it and it's very heavily loaded, all round the house! Particularly in my workshop...

If it doesn't need to look top-notch, there are a surprising number of companies specialising in selling 2nd hand racking

These folks do a spur clone that seems pretty good for the money:
