Smoke damage

Any bright ideas, as to clearing the smell of smoke in a house after a minor kitchen fire?

Who was the minor?

Open windows as long as possible clean the walls and repaint. ;-)

The only way is to clean everything with caustic soda (diluted of course) - this will remove any grease and also some of the smoke residues - wear suitable rubber gloves and potective clothing, including goggles - seriously - this shit will burn a hole through your eyeball. When you've finished, start again with a clean solution, or use a proprietary cleaner like cif or something slightly scented.

Sister-in-law went shopping and forgot about the cleaning cloths that were boiling on the cooker. She came back, several hours later to a house full of smoke.
