Shower switches

Is there any reason why a shower RCD Consumer Unit can't be used (i.e. screwfix ref: 42858) rather than a ceiling pull switch ? (to be mounted in an adjacent cupboad in a different room)

...or for that matter, why the power supply should need to be isolatable "locally" anyway if it's protected by a DP RCD...

Unless the rules have changed in the last few years, the isolator must have a _mechanical_ means of indicating that it's 'switched off', i.e. not just a neon lamp (which proves very little indeed!).

It could be argued that the indication should be visible to anybody working on the shower, so an RCD in a cupboard in a different room is unlikely to fulfil that criterion.
