Could someone tell me why the 'search' on the Wickes site brings up pages of guttering when you search for 'window cleaning'?

Because it is the "Improved keyword or product code search"? It's so clever it knows what each person will find they also need when they go out to clean the windows. Hence when I search for window cleaning it shows me one chamois leather followed by umpteen timber casement windows, pivot windows etc. Not a gutter in sight

If you search by 'price' - low to high you will be covered in guttering bits :-)

Ah so, Master!

So Wickes have decided those who shop by price deserve to be in the gutter?

They will be with Wickes prices!

Which reminds me I meant to ask how (if at all) one gets Jewson's prices online and/or if one needs to haggle with them if one does not have a trade account? (I ask as they have taken over one of the few independent builder's merchants near me, and one I used to patronise* occasionally.)

*Well to be be honest it was more a case of them patronising me - but they were gentle with me;)

Dunno. If I want anything from Jewsons I order it on my builder mates account and knock the cost off the next bill I send him for my electrical works.

The only thing I have used Wikes for (other than distress purposes) was a couple of bags of ballast and 14 bags of cement.

Done that for you, and only found a Chamois Leather for £5.79 - they don't seem to be into window cleaning supplies!

Now, if you actually go to your next preferred 'trade counter' at B&Q (spit) - and type in the obvious search criteria, then you will find three pages or so containing the stuff.

Why don't you employ a secretary to do these 'complicated' searches for you?

Some places accept you're a tradesman if you say you are.

I'm not so clumsy with the ladder when I clean windows.
