sealing parallel BSP when embedded in wall

What is the safest way of sealing parallel 1/2" BSP connection that is to be embedded in the wall? The elbow has a flat face to take a washer, but the male piece does not, just a rounded chrome end, so is a fibre washer OK? My shower fitting guide specifies similar for fitting the bar mixer so it must be OK, despite previous comments that a washer is only suitable between to flats, e.g. with tap connector. The male piece can take a compression fitting, but there's not enough room behind for this, to BSP is has to be. I know all the options (PTFE (crap), fibre washer, old tech sealant (boss white / hemp), new tech loktit etc.) But, people with more experience than me, how would you seal this to ensure it will NEVER leak. It would be nice if the joint could be undone in the future, but not vital. TIA, Simon.

I've had success with Hemp+boss white.

New tech loktite. Our factory uses it fon joints up to 250 bar. I've seen grown men weep trying to get them undone again.

Hi,

I've found Fernox LS-X never leaks, as long as you give it time to cure properly. If put on the thread of the parallel and not the elbow it shouldn't accumulate inside the elbow when screwed together, I've used it with the offset adapters with no problems.

A locknut would stop the parallel being unscrewed if the shower is removed, but the sealant alone should hold it fairly well.

cheers, Pete.
