Screwfix Order Deadlines

Be warned - the Screwfix approach to Customer Service includes the trick of bringing forward their "cutoff" time for orders without bothering to tell anyone.

Read their catalogue, and it will tell you the deadline is 1800 weekdays and 1400 Sunday.

But yesterday (Sunday) it turns out that any order placed in the last three-and-a-half-hours before the dealine (ie after 1030) missed the "next-day" delivery. Apparently mid-August is a "really busy time" for them.

Screwfix don't have the wit (or inclination) to warn customers when they place the order that their delivery standard cannot be met, nor do they bother to email you later in the day to say that they have failed to despatch on time. They just sit tight and leave you to hang around the next day waiting for delivery a parcel that hasn't even yet left Yeovil.

it's happened to me about seven times in the last 6 weeks.

I'll still use screwfix but their next day delivery 'service' is so unreliable I've decided to plan my jobs on a week by week basis i.e order on a weekend and wait until the order arrives then sort out the shortages well before planning a days work.

I'm going to be unsympathetic here.

If you are relying on the next day delivery then you should pay for it.

They say it is usually next day, and for me that is what is has been. The last order as it happens wasn't, but came the day after in the morning.

go for it

I do, or at least did, but (as with yesterdays order) I'm buggered if I'm going to pay for delivery then have to spend half an hour on the phone claiming my refund because it's late (again)

I deal with screwfix about thre times a week, BTW, and have spent over £2k in the last 5 weeks so I sort of know how they operate, thanks.
