Sander recommendation

I'm stripping a load of skirting boards, about 50m. I've found a heat gun works best, but it leaves a rough surface, and a few stubborn remains of paint.

What would be the best power sander for this application? Cost is a factor - especially consumables - but I'd pay what it costs.

Thanks, Rob

You will need fairly aggressive sanding for that. Hence either a random orbit, or preferably a belt sander.

If there is a moulding at the top of the skirting then that is the hardest bit to power sand[1]. You can do those bits manually with either a manual foam block sander, or a custom made profile block (press some two part filler like car body filler or wood filler into some cling film over the profile, let it set and then use that as a backer for alox paper etc).

memory serves there is also a linear sander from Festool....

Yup this one:

(but you may regret that "pay what it costs" claim!)
