Salt on Plaster

Does anyone know how to stop salt coming through on plaster on a wall that has been recently dampproofed?

Thanks

I misread the header - now realise that it isn't "Sat on Plaster" :-)

It means the wall is wet and is drying out through the plaster, carrying salts in the moisture which get left behind on the surface when the water evaporates.

If it was plastered immediately after the dampproofing before the wall had a chance to dry out, maybe it will stop. Otherwise the dampproofing probably didn't work, which is normal as dampproofing companies are mostly a scam and much of what they do to supposedly fix damp doesn't address the problem so it doesn't fix it.

Care to explain more about the damp situation, what they claimed the cause was and what was done to supposedly fix it?

Not too sure what the history is - it is a house I am considering buying to let out.

You can buy a salt neutraliser which the damp proofing firm should have coated the wall with before rendering, (sounds as if its too late now ;-( its actually a 50% concentration of acetic acid. :-)
