S.O..problems with tailgaters

Is somebody forcing you to read my replies to him?

Rod only chips in to an existing thread, rather starting pointless ones to see how they will run.

Depends on time of day IME. Daytime generally faster than night, even when the latter is emptier.

Table SPE0106 from here shows the variation by time of day:

There are two distinct peaks, one around 5am and one around 8pm, with troughs around 7am and 5pm.

Note that these are free traffic speeds, so are only taken for traffic not held up by congestion.

How do you measure your speed. Normal speedos have a legal tolerance of over-reading by 10%. So your "50" could be someone else's "45" (approx)

Are you preventing them from overtaking?

No.

I'm in a queue. Not at the front, or the back, IN it. I can't go faster without tailgating the next guy.

I measure it by GPS long term, and the tacho short term (1 needle's width under a mark - it's more convenient than the speedo's 3/4 of the way between two marks). But it's irrelevant. My speed is governed by the queue in front of me.

Why don't people understand a simple little word like "in"?

Oh I understand "in", it's the rest of the shit you put around it that bothers me.
