RS Compenents.

I order up two things from RS over the weekend. One essential for the job, the other desirable. Both in stock and to be delivered the next working day. Which I assumed to be Tuesday.

On Monday, get an email 'Dispatch Notification' saying the desirable item will be delivered Tuesday by DHL. The essential one not mentioned.

Panic, and go to the RS site to look for a substitute. Find one, and order that. Again, says next day delivery.

This morning at 9 am, the essential item and the substitute arrive by RM. In separate envelopes.

No sign of the desirable one. I expect (hope) it will come later today.

Why would they send two items from the same order separately - and by different carriers? They are all small and of little weight - the sort of thing you can send by letter post.

Not having a go at RS. Especially if the other bits arrive today. Was surprised to find they now seem to do free next day delivery even on small orders (about 10 quid) paid by credit card.

Just curious about the logistics.

I often get this sort of thing two or three packages from RSarrive at the s ame time, maybe it;s due to the product being in diffent parts of the RS wa rehouse it's easiy to post them direct then send them from warehouse to war ehouse.

What annoys me more is that usaully the parts get put into little white or pink paper bags I end up with quite a few per order which seems wasteful.

With Rapid electronics when we wanted Before Noon next working day £14.95 + VAT , the items arrived exactly the same time they normally do w ith teh free next day, which is about 3:30-4pm next day at our postroom de livered by UK mail. I rang rapid E up to tell them and they gave the full r efund so was happy with that.

TBH RS customer service could give a monkeys, about anything, if someone else has the stock will use them before aRSe.

Rapid, have had stellar customer service on several occasions, even after becoming part of Conrad, now tend to be my preferred supplier.

On the other hand, I have seen RS make delivery mistakes in my favour.

For example, I ordered a single roll of extra thick electrical tape. I wasn't sure they would accept the order because it only cost ?2 including delivery and they probably would have made a loss sending it by letter post. It arrived the next day by courier.

Maybe they like me. :-)

In this case they were the only one I could find with the wanted item in stock.

I like Rapid, but they never seem to have what I want. So usually try CPC first.

They once sent me a complicated PAT tester thing instead of the little cheap multimeter I'd ordered and charged for the latter. I had no use for the PAT tester so I sent it back.

Did you send a photograph with the order?
