Roughcast

I am in the process of drawing up plans for a 2 storey house extension. The roof of the new extension will be about 450mm lower than the existing (to keep the planners happy). I plan to roughcast the 450mm part of wall between the two roofs. The wall between the two roofs will be 140mm timber frame + 45x45mm battens + suitable sheathing to take roughcast.

Question: What would be a suitable sheating to take the roughcast. I have heard there are specific products for this application but couldn't find anything on google.

Thanks, Alan

When I roughcast rendered the gable on my loft conversion, I went for

3/4" WBP ply as a base, a layer of tilers felt, then covered it with Expamet expanded metal lath, and rendered onto that. A render stop at the bottom, over lead flashing ought to work well for your application.
