Riving Knife revisited

Popped into B&Q earlier & ended up buying a MacAlister/Performance Pro 165mm circular saw. 15% off so it came to £42.

1200w motor, 5,000 rpm, no riving knife, 24 tooth tct blade, fence tucks under the base for ripping narrow sections. Just what I wanted, shame its a B&Q but it looks OK - time will tell.

Does that mean there's also an entry level MacAlister for us amateurs?

That's a mean machine you got there. Without a riving knife, even a bloke in a check shirt could be thrown across the room.

No idea, you had better ask B&Q. MacAlister were called Performance Pro until recently.

Nah! Check shirts make you immune from all safety hazzards - just watch Norm.
