Replacing cast iron downpipes

My Victorian cast iron downpipes are cracked and rusted out and need to be replaced. I may be able to keep the hoppers and would like to do so as they are quite attractive.

The cost of replacing the cast iron downpipes with similar new ones would appear to beyond my budget so I'm looking for recommendations as to where to go to get plastic (uPVC?) replacements that will look reasonably like the originals.

One neighbour said there are plastic ones available with a matt finish that look just like cast but he couldn't tell me where.

The external dimensions of the existing ones are 100mm x 130mm.

Can someone assist please. Thanks.

Screwfix keep a cast iron lookalike range in now. They are quite expensive (screwfix) compared to general plastic suppliers, so maybe look in the yellow pages to see who is local supplying plastics to the trade. As you havent said where you are, no-one can give a local contact. Alan.

Cast aluminium is one choice, and looks-wise much better than standard pvc drainpipe. The pattern is very similar to iron, but cast lugs are less chunky than cast iron though

However Floplast now do pvc guttering in a reproduction cast iron pattern - and even very close up it looks convincing, you might have to rap your knuckles on it to be sure. I can't tell you what it will look like after several years weather exposure though.
