Replacement bolts for Baxi Genesis 80 secondary heat exchanger

It's that time again when I need to think about removing the domestic water heat exchanger and cleaning it out, as the hot water is fluctuating from hot (ish) to cold wildly. This has been normal for this bolier to do this periodically since we moved in.

Removal of the exchanger and a clean always does the trick.

I noticed last time that the 2 x bolts were tighter / stiffer than usual. They creaked and groaned as I began to remove them.

I am now concerned that they may snap in situ when trying to undo them.

If they should, does anyone know where I can get replacement bolts?

As far as I can see, they don't even come with a new heat exchanger (237472). You get a set of new rubber seals, but no new bolts.

I am near Margate in East Kent.

I know someone who will know. He is the retired R&D director from the Lancashire area. I will e mail your post in a few minutes and post back to the group, his answer.

The Baxi man has replied...

dave, (Dave... that is my name, prolly not the name of the firm, due to the inclusion of the comma) heatons in leyland do all types of bolts, the old baxi products, pre 1990 were imperial, whitworth mainly, after this they were metric, boiler manifold retaining bolts were M8.

Hope this helps you some.

Thanks for attempting to help me, but..............

Are the boiler manifold bolts the same bolts I am referring to?

It's a Baxi Genesis 80 boiler.

There are 2 x bolts that go into the secondary heat exchanger to secure it.

It's these bolts I am referring to.

But I will see if I can find an M8 bolt and have a look as I can remember roughly the look of them.

I did post all of your post to him, but I won't be able to answer this any further until he comes into the pub for a pint of real ale. When he does, I'll post again.

I have just got back from town and as I was passing 2 plumbing and heating merchants, I called in. The first can't, or wont get them but Plumb Base say they can, but you need to know what you want.
