Refinishing GRP Bath?

My partner has decided that she does not like the brownish spots that have appeared under the surface of her GRP bath and which show through. It is a long discontinued deep yellow colour.

Google produces lots of bath resurfacing companies, mostly for enamal, but I've not found any DIY solutions. Does anyone know of a suitable product that will allow me to refinish it for her?

MM. You might be able to rough it up and apply a new gel coat.

It would probably dribble a bit, but a good hard rub down with wet and dry and some T-cut should sort out any irregularities afterwards..

But a new bath is pretty cheap, or get a better acrylic one?

Not just any gelcoat, you need wax inhibited gelcoat

alternative is two pack marine paint.

suppliers are available, no connection etc)

Maybe the attachment to the old tub is that it's a proper size bath unlike most modern stuff which is designed for minimum water content and minimum space for large ar$es.

I was hoping to avoid quite that much work.

Good idea. I was wondering whether there was a paint that would stand up to regular immersion in water and not rub off on the occupant, but had not thought of boat paint.

She is looking for a least disturbance option and, as the colour is discontinued, changing the bath would mean changing the handbasin and WC too.
