You can make the archive visible to all but it also shows members' yahoo IDs if not their full email addresses. I can't see any way to hide those. At present the whole Freecycle network is based on Yahoo groups and unless it were to generate revenue specifically to fund another way of hosting it, I imagine, that is how it will stay.

Letting fear of registration stop you using a very useful resourse is just silly.

Last big load of wood I burnt I had some thickish beams type bits.

My preferred method is to make a three sided box of the thickest bits and lay other stuff over the top. The top stuff burns first and gradually the box sides will burn away too. You don't need a massive blaze this way and can easily leave unburnt stuff for another time by stopping putting new material on the top.

You could burn the long bits in half by putting them on the top first.

There's a tiny bit of England north of (a tiny bit of) Scotland, but I haven't come across any west of Scotland.

Which bit of "west of scotland"? A bit near Cumbria?
