If you do not know the answer too this, you certainly shouldn't be messing with gas! (Also it is illegal unless qualified).

The only way anyone, including all "qualified" people, has ever become competent to work with gas is either by asking questions they don't know the answers to, or having people volunteer the information. Nobody is born with the knowledge to safely work on gas supplies.
No, I'm pretty sure it isn't, actually.
