I would have thought 8 blokes could lift the rear of just about any car to reduce traction..........

Were the 8 men already pulling the car backward before the driver engaged the engine?

Nope, ot was tug-of-war style 3-2-1-Pull, they both started pulling together. The car held on for a few seconds but once the men got into their stride it was going backwards and no stopping it.

(car was on (dmap) tarmac, men on grass)
