Radiators - standard sizes?

Hi,

My house was built in around 1995. As per other posts I am thinking about upgrading the radiators to the new modern style for both aesthetics and additional heating.

I have noticed that all of my current radiators appear to be non standard sizes - at least when compared to the radiators you can buy today.

For example, I have a radiator that I measured as 62cm in width. I "borrowed" a 60cm one from B&Q to get a feel for the difference and ensure that I was measuring the correct dimension and the two are different.

Am I correct in saying that radiators 10 years ago came in difference standard sizes to now? I appreciate I can bend the pipes a little (its a microbore system) to get this radiator to fit but this wont be possible in all cases. Also, bending of pipe will probably crack plaster etc causing more work.

I'd like to replace the radiators is there any way I can get more modern style ones in these odd sizes?

Thanks in advance,

CM.

You can get extendable "telescopic" radiator valves to solve many of these problems.

Try a different manufacturer and compare.

Can you suggest a supplier? Did a quick google and didnt come up with much. May be using the wrong search criteria though.

Again, done a few googles and didnt turn anything up. All suppliers seem to be supplying in said sizes. Any ideas on a supplier? Thanks,

CM.
