Query re worktop sealants and U-bends

Hello,

Having just "cut" a worktop, what sealant is recommended for making the edges watertight?

The schematic for installing the pipes (supplied with the sink) does not show any U-bend (and there isn't one in the pack). Are these necessary or recommended ?

Many thanks for any info.

Put a thin layer of clear silicon sealant on the raw edges. [Put a bead on with a gun, and then spread it quickly with a plastic spreader, removing any surplus from the top surface].

If you are joining worktop along cut edges, apply the sealant immediately before final assembly. If the cut edges are for an inset sink, let the sealant dry before fitting the sink.

You *must* have a trap of some sort (U-bend or P-trap) in the waste pipe between the sink and the drain. Otherwise, you'll get very nasty smells!
