When laying profiled tiles and a wet verge, should the profiled tiles be cut in order to remove the highest part of the profile, so that the low part of the profile forms the verge ?

There is a house near me where the high part of the profile forms the edge, and the huge mortar fillet between the undercloak and the top of the profile is starting to fall out. Cheers, Simon.

If the roof tiles have more than 2" or 50mm to 3" or 75mm over hang they can be cut back to reduce wind up lift. The tiles are only cut back on the left hand verge. The under lap channel is cut off. The main reasons that the cement fillet falls out is one of two reasons #1 the tiles have been pointed flush instead of the pointing set back. If the tiles have been pointed flush it leave an air line crack between the tile edge where water can ingress and frost will blow the mortar from the backing bed. .2# the mortar mix is too weak. Left hand verge tiles can be obtained, all theses are tiles with the under lap channel removed in manufacture. You can also try starting with 2/3rd of a tile and finish with a 2/3rd tile. Like start with the centre roll and finish with a roll this all depend on the width of the roof fitting in with the tiles. The only other way to reduce the width of the fillet is to lift the barge boarg level with the lath and fix the undercloak on top of the lath.
