Pressure equalising valve

This idea has been prompted by the ever helpful Mr McArdle!

Problem: difficult to get correct water temperature from shower head (combined shower head / bath mixer tap)

Idea: add pressure equalising valve under bath taps

Current set-up: Combi boiler - flow out of shower head today :- hot only :

10lit/min, Cold only : 17lit/min, approx correct temp 12lit/min

We have a separate shower in the en-suite which is powered by electric and works fine, however in our other bathroom he have a bath / shower, 97 times out of 100 we use it for only baths at present, mainly as we find it difficult to get to correct temperature from the combined shower head / mixer bath taps. At present we have to turn of the hot water to full, wait for the boiler to kick in, and the gently turn on the cold around 1/4 of a turn, however its very fiddly to get the correct temperature - hence I was wanting to fit something under the bath before going into the mixer taps which would allow more controllable temperatures. In this I was thinking of fitting a pressure equalising valve which would hopefully reduce the cold pressure / flow rate and make it more easy to get the correct temperature - would a pressure equalising valve help in this case?

thanks in advance Jon

would be more suitable for your purpose. A pressure equalising valve might give you an unacceptable range of temperatures which you might not be able to control. In high Summer - too hot and in Winter too cold.

I haven't used one but have considered one from time to time. The only problem I see is that you probably can't over-ride the setting to give a cold shower. Maybe someone will enlighten us both?
