Poss. OT. Recommendations for a cordless kettle

The £10 job from Tescrot about 18 months ago was OK except that it dripped a bit. Looked around (and asked on here), but it's almost impossible to tell from pictures. Finally bought one from Wilkinsons for £15; not keen on the colour (dark blue, so shows dust but not odd splashes from the teapot) and it seems a bit lightly made, but it doesn't dribble at all (has a proper rim to the spout) and runs at about 2700W. Also, the vapou/steam is emitted straight up rather than out at an angle, so can be closer to walls etc. It's a Breville VKJ118:

Tescrot one has a 'switch' in the base of the kettle that disconnects the supply before the contact breaks; the new one hasn't.

I think the OP is referring to a kettle type where the cord is housed in a static base, and the kettle 'docks' with the base:

We have a Breville "Lightning" but this a plastic jug style kettle not traditional. It runs at about 2.5kW (measured) has a silly blue light when it is heating and a "keep warm" button that is handy for making coffee temperature water but is easy to leave on... Easy to locate onto the base.

Must be 3 or 4 years old and is now starting to disintegrate on the inside of the spout but is otherwise fine. Our water is very soft, no descaling required ever.

As have we, for several years. (Though we have the European white model FLF1 - IIRC - with a mere 1700W element.)

Really like the kettle. No problem with the filter mechanism. The later models (FLF2?) bedecked with stainless steel seem heavier. Seems to release far less steam (OK - water vapour) into the room than any other kettle I have used.

Sorry, that should have been: runs at about 2970W.
