Porch lamp light

Now the floorboards have been taken up (above our front-door porch) I'd like to fit a light in it. The cable is in place but just to ask for any tips about fitting it and what's a good lamp to use?. It's only a plasterboard "ceiling" in the porch so won't take much weight. swmbo specifically wants a "nice yellow light lantern type thing"! No problem there then. I was thinking of fitting a movement detector operated "thing" and so just use an old-fashion 60W filament lamp. At least they come on immediately - and it won't stay on for long. Maybe there's a better lamp to use? tia

If you really do mean lamp, the xenon/halogen A lines are a bit better, and some LEDs much better. Obviously dont get a luminaire with a non replaceable LED.

I fitted a pendant lantern in the porch many years ago, with a movement detector. The 'on' timer is set to just 1 minute. I also wanted a warm light, so I used a 25W white bulb from a set of coloured outdoor GLS lights - the white is slightly yellow compared with a standard white bulb, and I had lots of them (although it never blew in 10+ years use).

However, a couple of years ago, I swapped it for s 3W LED golf ball. The streetlamps had become "cold" LEDs, and my nice warm bulb just looked yellow in comparison.
