Plug in timer

I don't know if such a beast exists but I am looking for a 13amp plug-in timer so that I can set some lights (flashing disco stuff) in my son's room to turn off after a set period (upto 2 hours give or take). I don't want to use a standard timer unit as there are not any set times that the equipment will be used for as it used on ad hoc basis.

The lighting stuff is used to calm him down when he's upset and also as part of a multi-sensory set-up. Unfortunately as the idle git refuses to move or do anything for himself (SWMBO claims it's due to him being a quadraplegic but I know the truth) at present the kit can be inadvertently left running for an excessive length of time thus burning a few too many electrons for my taste.

Any suggestions will be welcome although I won't promise to act on all of them.....

Cheers

Mark

You need to click on the Product Range link on the LHS to get fuller details, which are:

# Large 24hr display for easy viewing # Plug-in control for all 13 amp (3kW) appliances and filament lamps up to 300W # A total of 20 ON/OFF programmes selectable over individual days and various combinations of days # Optional random delay to both start and finish of all programmes # Output ON indicator # Up to 24 hour countdown facility (giving a manual start to a timed OFF)

Note the last line.

Thanks for that Bob. I've never used CPC so I didn't think of looking there. When I checked though it said that they no longer stock them :-( but at least I now know that such products do exist.

Tell him he'll have to come up with a better excuse than that. Like being a teenager for example. They definitely can't do anything for themselves.

TCS40 is about halfway down this page, priced at £24.99

or here:

Or if you want more flexibility (at a cost) consider using X10 with something like a Domia timer and a switched socket:
