pink electrical cable.

Anyone know where I would get pink 2 core electrical cable? My daughter has decided to put a mirror with lights above it and since I've just decorated her room, I don't want to channel the cable into the wall. I thought it would have been a matter of just going to eBay and getting it easy but I've looked everywhere. Most of her "pink" electrical equipment has come pre fitted with pink cable so somebody is supplying it?

Cheers

Steven.

used to deal with them before the interweb made it a lot easier to find odd things , they have been in the same place for nearly 30 years!

single insulated single core is only good for LV though. The option of white cable plus coloured heat shrink sleeving increases the possible colours, including pink, but I dont remember where the pink stuff came from.

Paint I wouldnt, it wont look good, its never going to go on smooth or even.

How about hiding any colour cable in coloured mini trunking:

I have thought about heat shrink sleeving as that would be ideal but I can't find that anywhere either, in pink.

Thanks Des but that pink looks purple to me and would probably stand out more than white.

John that is another option, if they made it in pink.

What colour have you done the woodwork, and could you just paint some cable the same colour? Might even work with vinyl emulsion if it's not flexed much afterwards.

I didnt realise you were trying to make it not noticeable - if so, enamelled copper is the obvious candidate, you can only use it with LV lights though. Pink mains wire is never going to blend in :)

Try getting "spares" for a pink electrical item. As you say, the manufacturer managed to get it ! Simon.

Hang on a bit - she will grow out of the fad and want the rest changing.

Easier to paint minitrunking than it is to paint cable - the paint won't flake off a rigid surface.

use white and wipe with a suitable red dye. Which might be food coloring, or a red felt tip, or biro extract ;-)

experiment a little and have fun.

Yes, but the manufacturer is buying large quantities and is likely to be having it made to order - either as cable or as complete 'cordsets' with fitted plugs and prepared ends.

Two of the main UK cable manufacturers who will do specials are Concordia

There's no harm in asking and if they happen to have a customer taking the specification and colour required the OP'll probably be able to scrounge or buy a few metres. But if not, the MOQ for special runs is typically 10 km...

Otherwise a rummage at the local household recycling centre (aka tip) or a wanted ad on the local Freecycle group might turn up a discarded appliance with a pink flex.

I assume you've already thought of shortening the cable on one of those other items?

Alternatively LED lighting could be fed by a low-voltage low-current source and in that case you could adapt a CAT5 patch cable (widely available in pink).

they sure 1 Teraohm per cm is good enough insulation :-)

So *that's* why we got black for phase when the colour codes changed :-)
