Sometimes 6/32, which means number 6, 32 threads to the inch (I think Americans use this thread )This thread is used on all general purpose power outlets in Australia.

No not metric,metric ane measured in mm dia and pitch in mm between threads eg 8x1.5. These screws are a number 6 screw with 32 threads per inch.
