Paper Log Maker

I'm thinking of buying a perper log maker, but read some very negative comments about the brick model (messy, up to a year to dry out, storage problems). Has anyone tried the newer plunger type which compresses the paper without using water?

a quote elsewhere "The logs will burn for up to 1 hour depending on the contents. Paper only filled logs work well as firelighters - great for the barbeque. "

I assume paper only acting as firelighters means they'll last no where near an hour.

Err and £22.50 inc P&P for a tube and a plunger? I suspect they are pulling my plunger. Anyone is going to get bored of that malarkey in about five minutes.

I've not used them but I gather people that are into that sort of thing tend to decide wrapping the papers in a roll is the quickest and easiest way to use them.
