Overflowing attic tank

Hi there.

My problem is that I have an overflowing water tank in my attic tha spills into my neighbors side passage. He is getting pretty ****ed.. not to mention the cost of jettisioning hot water.

The excess water is coming from the overflow pipe that is attached t the heat exchanger for the hot water cylinder. i.e. the water is comin from the circuit that goes to and from the boiler and hot wate cylinder.

If anyone can tell me why it is overflowing that would be great

This normally happens when the thermostat is faulty, which causes th water to boil, expand and fall into the cistern. This then overflow outside of the property
