OTish:Multi-channel media player (app)

Messing around with a Raspberry Pi, and am impressed enough to try and invest some time in a small project, which may (emphasis on *may*) not need too much work at all.

Basically, I want to create a device which can play a video file, along with it's associated audio via HDMI to a TV.

That's the easy part.

Now, the self same media player (or at a stretch a synchronised second copy) has to be able to (1) read a subtitles file (SRT, for example) and (2) play that file through a text-to-speech engine where the output goesm (3) via bluetooth to an earpiece.

My Pi came with Kodi/XBMC installed which has zillions of plugins, so it's a starting point ....

Kodi has a screenreader plugin, so I guess that's a place to start.
