no set up a cron job to invoke inadyn which tells dyndns.org what ip address you are on even if its still the same. dyndns doesn't give a shit. Its about 100 bytes of packet very 5 minutes. So what?

Unless you can categorically shopw me a piece of their web site that says 'dont do this' you are as usual making it all up.

Dennis: what inadyn does by way of caching its its own business.

A simple cron script can call any program.

You dont seem to understand that.

Wheter it caches between single invocations is also another matter.

Nut its all a bit too much for your little brain Suffice to say downloading and installing inadyn in either daemon mode or as a single shot cron script is simple, which is all I ever said or meant.

Now FOAD

That's not mentioned in your quote; merely a cron job to tell dyndns what IP you are on. Not how often, or whether it does it redundantly.

"Only works because"? It can be done entirely within a shell script.

True. But he didn't do that.
