OT: Vacuum Cleaners

Sorry, not turned on.

Well, a gym wouldn't be thrown out on Boxing Day but I've nowhere to put it so don't be tempted, Owain ...

Thanks anyway.

But if you want her to get you one (assuming you still want to be able to walk upright on Boxing Day) here's my suggestion:

It breaks a criterion because it has a bag - but it's worth it.

Miele Revolution Power Plus. It is absolutely amazing. It's difficult to get excited about a hoover, but this one is *very* well made. Electric powered beater head is as good as any upright I ever used (picks up every last hair from the carpet) and does all the things a cylinder does. Very good filtration too - bugger all dust comes out. Good enough to use in blow mode to blast the fluff out of my PCs.

Flippin' pricey (definately buy on the internet, not in the local shops) but it does make as light work of hoovering as is possible (short of getting your blonde swedish au-apir to do it, of course ;=D )

Way better than the Vaxes - though they make the best garage/shed/crappy jobs hoover IMHO.

If it's important to you hire a cleaner. Wives have more important things to do.

We don't employ a cleaner but the housework is rarely done.

I went to an excellent performance of La Boheme at Lincoln Center a couple of years ago. I can't remember the last time I saw a ballet. I used to get freebies and cheap tickets, but I no longer count as being 'in the business'.

I'm just hoping someone I can poke with a very short stick might notice this thread ...

He knows that he's going to have a hundredweight or so of flint nodules - which he has to choose and collect himself, part of the enjoyment :-)

Was that these days?

We're coming up to 45 years, it still feels like these days though :-)

And I prefer white kitchen applicances but it seems to be getting hard to find them.

Dysons are ok, but some non-dyson psyclones are miles better. Try a Sharp.
