OT: Price of electricity vs gas vs oil

Just seen a report on the telly regarding another rise in energy prices, especially gas.

Does anyone know a rough price for electric, gas an oil per kwh?

Is it viable to use gas/oil to generate electricity? Is gas heating now approaching the cost of heating by electric?

Oil works out at about 3p per kWh (assuming about 31p per litre) and Gas and electricity varies greatly with supplier and location. Where I live electricity doesn't get much lower than about 6.5p per kWh (unless using Economy 7) and gas about 1.6p per kWh.

It is viable to use gas for electricity generation, but probably not oil; Google for "combined heat and power".
