OT: My Logitech headphones have a weird problem

Hi there,

I was wondering if you could help me with this one. I have a Logitech headset with a mic that connects to my computer through the USB port.

It has previously worked fine but now when I put them in the sound only comes out from the speakers, I made sure that the Logitech USB headset was selected and it still doesn't work.

On the other PC it works fine.

Can anyone help?

What, in "sound and audio devices" ?

When I put the USB stick in, it changes the default to the phones

Have you tried putting the USB stick into a different USB socket ?

Yep there great

From the Properties section on volume control.

Sorted it out by going to control panel > sound speech and audio devices.

Have to do that every time I take them out and put them in again.

What application are you using it with?

In some things (like Skype) there are config settings to choose audio devices just for the use of the application - hence ye don't need to upset windows and it's own preferred choice of setting.

I use it for listening to music and for Skype too, though I don't use Skype very often.

Buy a headphone/speakers/microphone switch such as

110360036115 on ebay at the moment.

Saves endless hassle.

Nope - having two sound devices is superior for convenience.

"endless hassle" is a configuration issue which just needs to be resolved. Most computers don't have issues doing this kind of thing, and Skype is quite good in allowing selection of input and output sources in it's own configuration setup.

While a headphone/speakers/microphone switch such as that referred to wouldn't accept a USB connection without some plug swapping, it's actually, in my experience, one of the most convenient pieces of equipment -- a single box stuck to the side of the system unit with on/off switches for mic and changeover switch fo headphones/amplifier and a volume control for the signal to the main amp. In the real world, it's extremely handy. No fumbling around -- the necessary switches are right there and far faster to reach than calling up controls on screen.

Perhaps no use to you, but of great use to me.

What 'controls on screen'? I just put my headphone on my head when skype rings and answer the call.

The OP had a problem that this didn't happen (or 'appen in the case of the last poster)

I have the same USB wireless headphones and don't have this problem

The headphones work fine again suddenly, plug em in and the sound switches to headphones.

Now I'm having problems with the latest Mozilla Firefox crashing!
