is the M25 called the 'Autoroute britannique' ? Shouldn't the french Bastards use a capital 'B'?

The score stands at something like 31 major battle victories to the British and 20 to the French, with a couple of draws! So I think that the British have the bragging rites. Particularly as the British seem to have the knack of winning the really important decisive ones.

No, because it is being used as an adjective and adjectives are not capitalised for countries as in English.

To quote my Dad, who may have been quoting in turn: "The french have never forgiven us for twice rescuing them from the germans"

They appear to have addded this to all UK motorways. I imagine it is leakage between datasets.

Although why the suffix 'britannique' is needed is beyond me. The physical location should avoid confusion between M4 (Wales-London) and M4 (punjab)

And you have to consider whether the matches were home or away.

Leaving any internal squabbles aside the Brits have not suffered a home defeat since the battle of Hastings, indeed they have had few home matches, with the Spanish Armarda and the Battle of Britain being the most notable.

The French on the other hand have had several outright home defeats (1815,

1871, 1940) and some very messy home draws (1914-18).

Indeed the Brit's most recent military fiasco was 1956 when we were silly enough to get involved in a foreign adventure with the French over Suez...

Mmmmmm not completely true. The Dutch navy came and burnt the fleet somewhere in the Medway area IIRC, roughly in 1665 or so.

They only burnt the smaller ships. The best ones were stolen.
