I suspect the words "incompetence" or "neighbour dispute" are in there somewhere.

At least it wasn't 'fire exit keep clear'

A car parking space is worth more than a right of way I presume. Maybe the land was recently sold for this purpose.

Were there 'car bay' lines marked out on the road?

For the nosey google mappers out there, exactly where is this?

51 23 08 91 N 0 30 25 53 E is what it says when it in the middle of the screen.

Is there a better way of doing this?

Yes. Click on the link with the chains symbol up near the top right and paste the link. Even better if you put the link into tinyurl first

That only works on Google maps, sorry.

Click on the "Link" icon top right of the map, and copy/paste the email link

You can simplify the URLs quite a bit without breaking them, e.g. for a satellite view

There isn't a link icon. This is Google Earth, not Maps

You should have, not at top right of the whole screen/window, but top right of the map itself, above the "satellite" button.

Ah! There's probably a way (other than saving a KML file) but I haven't got Google Earth installed on this machine.

A few years ago someting similar happened near where I lived then. Two or three people built garages at the bottom of their gardens, leading out onto land that had been set aside for a bypass road, without checking whether they had any right of way over the land. When the bypass was cancelled, the land was enclosed and sold off and they all lost access to their garages.
