ot: ebay advert positive of negative

Just looking at laptop ads on ebay - one guy had "Comes with no charger"!

Presumably the OP was suggesting that the seller was implying that having no charger was an additional benefit. Which added to the perceived value of the laptop

When in fact on eBay, its often necessary to really spell it out that an item lacks something or other, and not just put it in the description. As otherwise its a pound to a pinch that some numpty will buy it imagining it's complete, and not wondering why the item has sold so cheaply. And then go crying to eBay when the truth finally dawns

As it happens in this case, there might be an implication that the seller might not have acquired the laptop by wholly legitimate means.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me.

As someone who has bought laptops for spare parts that have all sorts broken or missing, I am just happy to get a good description irrespective of how full or empty the sellers glass is.

I guess he thinks that it might more logically have been a positive statement such as "charger not included", instead of something reminiscent of "Yes, we have no bananas."
