OT - do laser printers still work after lengthy idleness?

That somehow seems very apt for a DIY group!

Did you have a particular need for this machine, or was it cheap enough to try for fun?

I worked at an Electricity Board headquarters, where there was an in-house printing department and they had abandoned the machine in the basement. I found it there during a routine inspection of glass rods on cracks in the basement walls and simply asked whether I could have it. They were pleased to free up the space and gave it to me.

It proved to be very useful in scaling drawings to finished model size for a project my father had to build a 1":1' model of an early broad gauge steam locomotive. However, it was huge and eventually we needed the space, contacted the Science Museum and they sent a van to collect it.
