[OT] Dental crowns

Buy yourself some dental tools. They do a far better job of removing tartar than any amount of faffing around with floss or water jets.

Had the angle grinder yesterday - well ant sized version :)

After reading all the Amazon reviews in Boots I finally plumped for the Panasonic one that blasts pulses of air and water (or mouthwash) on the basis that it got through less water so was less likely to be messy. The reviews were as good as the much bulkier all water units. Have not tried yet - have to charge it for a day first.

I've never flossed because it's too much faff and my teeth are too tight at the face. teepees or whatever they are call have a nasty wire in them so I'm always stabbing my gums when I tried those. We'll see what the water jobbie is like...

It's a big step forward from a liquorice root. Bloke at work likes chewing them - but explained how they were used as a toothbrush. They are basically a dried twig. You chew on it as it tastes of liquorice (really). But the now soft and fibrous end can be used to brush your teeth and leave them liquorice fresh :)

They used to sell them at the sweet shop when I was a lad, never heard of them for cleaning. ;-)

Glad to know you have conquered the dentist's chair.

All you have to do is pay (and many wealthy people have them routinely). But the tests and MRI scans - and their review by consultants - don't come cheap. (NB MRI - *not* the CT scans advertised on TV etc where the disbenefit of radiation may well outweigh the benefit of early diagnosis.)

But perhaps someone will come along with a DIY solution to MRI scanning :) (Which makes me realise it's several months since a post from Matty F left me feeling more than usually inadequate.)

no jab - painless.

own in 2 weeks.

Ts like that...

But I can't work out how to use them on myself I can't see in the mirror an d use the picks at the same instant in time. I tried with a simialr set for soldering purposes. I think the problem might be that I only have one pair of hands.

I had trouble with those at first. But got the hang of them now and they're much better and easier to use than flossing. Stabbing myself in teh gum these days is extremely rare and they get the junk out from between my teeth very well.

I've had one of these for a couple of years

I have been using it almost daily for the past six months, and not flossing at all (I also have some very narrow gaps).

For the first time for years I got the OK from the hygenist, instead of the usual lecture about needing to floss more.

But surely you have to be able to see what you are doing with the scrapers? I suppose you might be able to rig up one of the smaller USB cameras, but it doesn't sound easy to me. I think I will stick with the water jet!

There is a version without a wire:

Can't say I find them any easier to squeeze in though. :-(
