OT BBC clutching at straws?

The latest BBC GW article has a nice graph showing how we are now as "warm" as we were 90 years ago.

However the article says its due to bans on ozone attacking refrigerants (in the 80/90s wasn't it?)

Yes. Makes no sense at all - we banned those decades ago.

Its just another 'fool the sheeple' exercise in pretending carbon dioxide still has some major effect on climate.

Well, I do recall that the cfcs were also in many cases greenhouse gasses, or rather what they turned into in the upper atmosphere was as it destroyed Ozone it created something else whose name escapes me at this time!

At least we have proved humans can make a difference, so in that way it might convince others to act more urgently on other emissions. I blame the sheep in New zealand myself. Brian

I read it differently, that they were blaming CFC's for climate change, implying that CO2 plays a lesser role than currently proposed.

well if the cooling was caused by removing those CFCs then the warming must have been caused by the CFCs, Refrigeration didn't really catch on until the period where its claimed GW started.

Ah but the subtext is 'without those CFCs being taken out global warming due to CO2 would have been MUCH WORSE. And in fact its only timely intervention by World Socialism (TM) that has managed to stop global catastrophe that WOULD have resulted if CFCs AND CO2 were to be emitted together.'

I,e, they are still looking for excuses as to why the CO2 isnt making the world hotter, and the convenient lie is that CFCs are falling and that's what's doing it.

It preserves the myth that greenhouse gases are important. It explains the last decade of bugger all warming It continues the myth that only centralised government (preferably world socialist government) can Save Mankind.

Ticks all the boxes, gets front page status.

Fear for the Ozone layer began when the dimwits at NASA realised they hadn' t calibrated their satellites correctly. In the style of the planet Krikkke t they decided it was going to go. That's when penguins lost their free acc ess to hair spray. And the seals in the fridge had to come out.

To this day most people think of the ozone layer as some sort of would be r eservoir. Their ignorance is transcendental.
