OT: bad experience with parcel2go - be warned!

I must say this has been the worst experience I have ever had with a delive ry company. It all started very smooth, I took my parcel to the delivery office and I s tarted tracking it. It was shipped and then returned at warehouse. I contac ted someone on live chat on Monday and this Jenny lady said that everything will be ok, my parcel will be delivered on time, she will investigate why it has been returned and she will email me in 24/48 hours. So I stopped wor rying. After 48 hours, I received no email and the tracking reference hasn' t changed although she specifically said that it will be updated and my par cel will be on its way. Today (48 hours later), I started talking to this woman, Jo. She said that actually my parcel will be returned to my home address, they do not yet kno w the reason.Apparently it will take another 24/48 hours to determine the r eason. Also, she said that she has no idea when will I receive the parcel, and I will only discuss a refund when I actually receive the parcel at my d oor step. That's when I start getting annoyed as it's already the 10th of December an d my parcel needed to be received on the 15th. I sent this parcel on the 2n d of December just to clarify. She passes me onto her manager apparently. So I'm now talking to Sarah. She explained that I will definitely be getting a refund....when the parcel re aches my door step. But in order to get a refund, I need to contact them ag ain! On live chat! OMG! I need to talk to another one...again..... Ridiculous. She could not tell me why the parcel hasn't been sent (although it takes them literally 10 minutes to call and ask) and that it will take

24/48 hours. Apparently I will be getting an email but I somehow doubt that . Oh...and my parcel will be with me sometimes...in a few days, maybe beginni ng of next week. Really? So you can't even be bothered to send my parcel ba ck? You are a disgrace and I can't believe you are allowed to call yourself a d elivery mediator. When you promise a service, well...bloody deliver a servi ce not lies. So, not only that I wouldn't use them, but I will ensure none of our three businesses we own use these people again, we will ensure that none of our f riends, family, suppliers use their services either. We have a list of hund reds and we are prepared to contact them all to ensure that no one touches parcel2go. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I have always found them pretty good. The one time I had an issue (item damaged in transit) they refunded the costs and paid the full ebay selling price for the item.

You are not the first to mention this company to me in the last couple of months. They also seem to have drivers who do not speak English or know how to operate their little gadgets properly. Sounds like a bit of a lack of vision there. Brian

I've not had any issues with them and as they offer a choice of courier, I'm not sure how they differ from any other company. I usually go with myHermes and it's a very convenient service for me.

They are basically just a booking service for other couriers. Hence if you have problems with say Yodel in a particular area, then don't expect a different result just because you booked them differently. They do seem to offer better prices than approaching the couriers directly though and also make booking collections easy.

Last week I had to send a parcel and looked at Parcel2Go, but they only offered 3 unsuitable couriers instead of the large number of options on the previous times I'd used them. I had to afford ParcelForce.

At the same time someone tried to send me a parcel with Hermes. First, he found their local drop-off points had opted out and not told them, then it got delayed by the fire in the new Hermes depot in Warrington.

With some trepidation, I tried the InPost locker service they're partnered with for the first time this week. Reviews were hard to come by but, for this particular parcel, InPost were half the price of myHermes.

Dropped it off at the locker on Monday 9.30am.

Yesterday (Wed) afternoon, according to the tracking info, it was still sitting in the locker.

This morning the tracking info had updated to show it was collected yesterday at 15.43 and delivered and signed for at 11.21am today... on which basis I'd use it again. (Seems the actual courier may be CityLink.)

As a bonus (depending on how you define "bonus"), you get to hear the locker terminal say to you in a range of silly voices," You're early. Have you missed your breakfast?" and "Oo, er, that fitted in nicely."

On the other hand, my recent experiences with them have been fine.

I had a problem a couple of years ago, and it was the classic "not our fault gov - you need to speak to the courier"

except I paid parcel2Go, not the courier.

There's an awful lot of these middlemen springing up, who are very happy to take your money, and tell you how wonderful they are, and then run a mile if there's any problem.

Actually their website does say

"Here is a selection of positive reviews from our happy customers"

formatting link

It says nothing about what they do with negative reviews from unhappy customers.

I have just attempted to use a new company to me called parcel2Go.com, I wa ited in all day because I had booked for a collection to take place on the

03/09/2015. My item wasn't collected and so I was going to phone them, of a ll the telephone numbers I found on Google for them there was no answer on any of them, I then went to their home page but found no means to speak wit h anybody or even find a customer services agent, I then attempted to leave a negative comment but their site only allows you to say nice things about their company,I will never use the parcel2Go.com service again, a complete waste of time.

Admittedly I always take my parcels to a local Parcelshop to be collected but I have found the service to be excellent, so I have to say it's not all bad !

So far I've found myHermes pretty good (and MUCH cheaper than Royal Mail). I can drop parcels off at the shop down the road.

Receiving parcels is good too, as it's a 'housewife' delivery and they will try at useful times.

Parcel2go are not couriers. They are (as they make clear on their site) a "parcel delivery comparison website". So you booked another company to collect your item and it is that company which failed to do so, not Parcel2go. The name of the company which failed to turn up should have been clear to you when you booked.

I have used Parcel2go a couple of dozen times over the past few years without problems - albeit often (like Andycap) taking the parcel to a local shop.

Taking the parcel to the local small supermarket is my preferred method of sending as well.

That's not entirely correct. They are not really just a comparison website. They strike deals with courier companies for cheaper rates, and as it says on the site "When you place your order, your contract and payment is with Parcel2Go ".

If there is a problem, you are supposed, IIRC to contact them

Yes. My stupid mistake (trusting a failing memory).

Parcel2go will blame the courier, and direct you to them. The courier will point out their contract was with parcel2go, not you. You will then realise that parcel2go are another one of these rather contrived middlemen who are happy to cream off your money, and relinquish any responsibility whatsoever. Corporate mobile phone resellers are pretty much the same deal IME.

Sorry that I'm a bit late to this thread, been away gardening. There is no need for you to drop parcels for Hermes, they are more than capable of doing this themselves, I've had a number of bad experiences with them. If I was ever to use them for deliveries I would seriously over engineer the packaging.

That is true and possibly their one plus point.
