Morrison's reflector bulbs I bought (4 pack) give a very odd light 'pattern' of a bright ring with virtually no illumination in the centre. All 4 are the same. Is this usual?

How far away is the ring from the bulb? Even if there's a manufacturing fault and the filament is in the wrong place relative to the reflector the effect is likely to vary greatly with distance.
