O.T possibly

over the winter a number of tiles have cracked on my roof and also the underlay has split in quite a few places last time i made an insurance claim for a roof repai (quite a few years ago in another house) i was told the wind had not been fast enough and ended up forking out my money to get it repaired do any roofer type guys here know what the general criteria are for roof repais on insurance cos i'm starting to wonder why i have insurance at all when i end up doing everything myslef any wya (except the roof ,me and heights = pavement impact)

Insurance covers (amongst other things) storm damage. It does not cover routine maintenance. If the wind wasn't fast enough to be a storm, the insurance won't recognise the claim.

If you can find local newspaper reports of other people in the immediate area suffering similar problems that may help strengthen your claim on the basis that the severe weather conditions were localised.

if moneys tight you can leave the felt and just replace the tiles.
