Myson Apollo Gas valve

We have our Myson Apollo Fanfare 65/80 SI boiler (GC No 41-789-75) under British Gas maintainence. Today, having failed to fire, the BG engineer has diagnosed gas valve failure. He also says that the part (Honeywell VR4940C1020) is obsolete and unavailable. I think he might be right having rung several parts suppliers both local and national. I was wondering whether someone here might know whether an equivalent part is available, or what else we can do. I think that we will change the boiler in the near future but would like the boiler to be operational so we have time to get quotes etc.

Thanks for your help. Uk-plumbing.com say that the part I need is in fact VR4940C1012 which has been superseeded by VR4940C1004U which is obsolete anyway!!

Who dreams up all these numbers.

If it's just the solenoid that's gone then you can pick these up at

The BG engineer had the --1004U part but it physically won't fit our boiler, so that's no use. It is not the solenoid. Thanks for the bes link anyway.

My biggest problem is that I'm in france and HWMBO is at home with a cold house - if I was there it is possible I could free the solenoid in the valve. Ce la vie.
