Mum and Dad's Thomson TV won't remember the settings.

Every time they switch it on, it now goes through the setup menu (select language, etc.). I'm assuming there's some sort of small battery in there that could be replaced. Do TV's normally have such a thing? I've never know one to forget the settings like this, so maybe something more obscure is broken?

Are they actually storing it in the first place?

Mind you what do you expect. its a French company and they love to wind up the Brits. Its a national passtime.

No battery. Fuck off.

Well, just going through the questions on screen really. I've not seen it specifically offer to save the answers.

Possibly, but I'd hoped not. A battery would be easier for me to identify than flash memory.

What's the point of that ????

I don't know what he means by "No battery". TVs don't normally have batteries in them. It could well be the eeprom that is erasing or not remembering the channels. Could be the eeprom failing or the eeprom power supply. Sounds like a job for a tv repair man.

Never seen that prompt before, could be for those who swear a lot in the street and download farting apps to their I phone.

I think the Americans call them rednecks.
