Unfortunately the nearest Homebase (or Argos for that matter, selling to th= e same =A359.99 price point) were miles away, but I popped into B&Q and the= y price matched based on seeing the Argos website on my phone!

The Faithfull set was on ebay -

The span of the ceiling at this point was about 3' and I only needed about an inch of depth out of a 4x2" (it was on the landing which is tucked up into the apex of the roof).

Stud detectors can actually work well as long as the plasterboard is not foil backed. In those cases I use the metal detector capability to find the screws/nails holding the PB on.

Presuming they stick to the =A359.99 at Homebase, you can pick this up for = =A350.95 this weekend as they have a 15% off promo - online or in store. D= iscount code DISCOUNT15 apparently. Just got a promotional email in my inb= ox.

Wish I'd waited now...

set to use my new toy, the Bosch multi tool, but then I noticed the dedicated delta sander had a connection for dust extraction so that won the day as I was working indoors

Nope. Mine doesn't (Blue. Mains powered) The Green delta sander had dust collection but not this Blue Multitool

PMF180 is the best detail sander I have ever used, streets ahead. Only prob is that the velcro wears off the holder pretty quickly.

The velcro on mine has had it. Anyone seen replacements?

What other ones have you tried? I have a green bosch pda180 (iirc) delta sander but it's the only one I have ever used, so I cannot compare it to anything else. I just wonder whether a sander designed as a sander is going to be better than a tool designed to do a bit of everything, or for all I know, do they use the same motor and perform exactly the same?

my bosch pmf is a lot more aggressive at sanding than the cheapo delta sander i bought. Must be a bigger motor.

Oddly the reverse seems true. I have a bosch purpose designed delta sander, and it works, but it is nowhere near as effective as the multimaster. The oscillatory action also seem to promote longer paper life as well - I have still not finished the set of papers that came with my kit. You can also sand right up to an edge with the multitools since there is no lateral motion in the sanding pad to bang against adjacent vertices.

How bizarre!

Thanks. I shall use the multitool next time and see for myself. Thanks again.
