More Morrisons cheap lights.

I'm quite surprised at the volume of these things they are shifting - the Philips 11/18W ones. I'd guess several thousand a week, in a not particularly large store -

400 car park?

Anyway, today I noticed on the 'electrical' shelves, 3.49 BOGOF 11W CF floodlight. Diam - 68mm at widest point. 110mm from contacts to widest point, 118mm from end-end. Basically a standard 11W CF, with a blow-moulded plastic reflector on it. I'm using it as an inspection light, as it's very, very hard to smash the bulb, and sheds a decent amount of light.

Heh! Plastic reflector, won't that melt after a few minutes use?

Actually not - the heat inside the globe is only ~6W or so, and it's quite large. Unless it's really, really well insulated by the fitting, it shouldn't be a problem. And if it is, the CF will have stopped working.

Depends if it's thermoset or thermoplastic ...

And perhaps as importantly, the temperature.

Doesn't matter. Next week they will have it on offer as a heater for pies.

That's the problem with those multifunctional tools - don't do anything well.
