Mending scissors handle

In an attempt to beat the question on where to buy one AA battery I thought I'd ask this one:

I have a pair of "shredder scissors" which are like five pairs of scissors combined and allow you to shred the address part of letters, bills etc before binning them to prevent identity theft.

One of the handles has broken see photo here:

tried to mend it by putting a strip of fibreglass mesh on then some Araldite but it's failed. Any other ideas? The handles are made of a weird dense plastic foam material

Could you tape a single AA battery on with a 30cm piece of Sellotape?

My old chap would've fixed 'em, it may have taken him 10 hours in the shed but he'd fix 'em.

Batteries - He went to the market for batteries - Stall A - 10p but we don't have any Stall B - 20p Old chap - but they're only 10p from Stall A. Stall B - so go gettem from Stall A then. Old chap - they don't have any Stall B - ahhh, ours are also 10p when we don't have any.

That would be a decuple of scissors?

I've got the six-blade sextuple version (from Poundland) that doesn't really aid much in the purpose of destroying information. I suspect the handle fracturing like that is an indication of the bluntness of the blades and over time things aren't going to get much better.

How old is it?
