Depends on whether that architrave is of a design which is correct and in proportion to the frame. Cover strips frequently are not.

Thanks - something for the WIKI ? One window I have built the brick opening to take standard size, so it will probably be screwfix or something. If it only lasts a few years (hit and miss with the cheaper ones), I'll just change it, its on the ground floor ? T'will be pre-glazed and fixed with brackets I suspect.
Other window is an arch where I'm having a frame made (euroglaze) and getting the glazing separately, in order to save =A3=A3=A3=A3=A3s. But also french doors which will need heal and toeing I would think. Simon.
Simon wibbled:
Good idea. I'm ordering another window presently - if I can get photos of that during installation, I should write it up.
If it were me, I'd get a couple of people to help. That glass is going to be heavy and having 2 people to hold it put while you wibble with packers is likely to be very beneficial.
Cheers
Tim
The Screwfix ones I have - two large windows and patio doors - seem at least the equal of anything else similar I've seen, and better than many. One window and the doors were fitted some 15 years ago and still clean up like new. Nor have they given any problems.
When you have them installed by a double glazing firm, the markup can be enormous. Proved by the discounts you can sometimes squeeze out of them. Screwfix probably just their normal one for this type of item. And of course standard sizes allow economies of scale over custom made units.
If sourcing an infill panel for a door is anything to go by, I reckon they keep that information to themselves. Re the foam, I think the pro installers must use a 2 pack. It certainly cures much faster than the usual stuff
Good job for the internet and ebay then. Enterprising persons revealing the secret knowledge. Will they get banned from the Magic Circle ? When "making" vertical blinds, I was told you can only buy the weights etc in 1000s. Someone on ebay was splitting the orders, and presumably saving me money and making himself a nice profit. I was shocked at the savings from buying PVCu frame and glazing separately (for bespoke items anyway). Other thing, for fasias etc, plastic suppliers are far cheaper than even screwfix (like half the price !) Simon.
